As the year comes to an end!!

So. a new year is almost here. 2014 AD it will be called. So whats new? Just another day. The sun would continue to rise same as before etc etc. But what is the difference? New year resolutions! Why should they be any. I mean why specifically for new year? We can make any resolutions any time we want. And break them anytime too. The only difference i find is that i need to write down the date carefully. Its no longer -13 but -14. Thats it. But anyway, everyone wishes everyone 'happy new year'. And I reciprocate. Why? Because thats the norm. Does the new year signify a new begining as it is made out to be?

As a year comes to close and a new one begins, people in general tend to go into huddles of thought, trying to reevaluate their lives, loves and aspirations. It is somehow, as if, as 31st december rolls onto 1st january (not at the same time, mind you ... every region moves to the new year at its own sweet time because of all the time zones) a new chapter begins or something. But, in reality, the only major difference is that you need to change the last digit of the date. Thats it!
You want to make some resolutions, you can make it anytime .. no need to wait for the new year. But yeah, for those who don't need or want to make any, this is a fine time to attempt some
Okay, so how was 20013?

Personal lives? not good ... not good at all. Neither me nor any of my family members (specially mom) that I know well would venture to announce 2013 as one of the best years. In fact, I can argue that it was probably one of the worst. So, no points here either
So, in conclusion, it's good that 2013 ended. It did no good anyway.

So what about 2014 you may ask? Will it radically transform our lives? Will it stop global warming? Will it feed all the hungry and shelter all the homeless in the world? Will it be the year you find your loves and realise your ambitions? Will it herald a 'new golden age'? The answer to all the questions is NO. what do you expect! It's after all, just another year.
Trembling about the future, you might softly whisper the final question, "well, will it atleast be better than 2013?". I don’t know!!

And yes .. no new year resolutions for me ... no resolutions of any kind at all .. Guy writing this post claims he is perfect as he is :P. lets hope this year is radically different from the rest ;).
Enjoy life. Be it new year or old.

Life, aspiration and everything

Yesterday I read an article about what and why we should(nt) aspire.
Anyways, what i would like to know, Is there a need to have some ambitions, aspirations? Well to think, do i have any? (this question starts the great self-discovery process, after a million milli-seconds, the result tumbles out.) Do i need to have any? Wouldnt it be better to take life just as it comes. Not deliberate upon the future. This is a common question in many interviews, "Where would you like to see yourself 5/10/10++ years from now?". So, any answers?
My answer would be, i do not want to see myself anywhere 5/10 whatever years from now. I would rather, be there then, and be here now. Rather than having an ambition and running after it, maybe its better you walk, enjoy your walk, you may not have a destination, but thats the beauty of it. How many times have you enjoyed a walk when you had to get somewhere quick? And how many times have you enjoyed a walk which didnt take you anywhere in particular?
I dont think there is any such thing as a destination in my life. Or rather in anyone's life. You may want to achieve something, By the time you achieve that (or not achieve), your so called goals are set somewhere higher (or lower :P). A goal is nothing but a mirage. Why am i sounding like a self-help guru?
Another benefit of not having any goals. No regrets. No disappointments. At the same time, not having a goal is not a passport to being useless. It does not mean that you neednt be sincere in what you do. The primary aim (if any) in life should be that you dont feel bad about anything that you did or didnt do.
Finally, where would i like to see myself 5/10 years from now on? "Living a lovely life". Rephrasing it, "Continue living a lovely life"

long long ago … time went by.. It still does

Helplessly track pieces of memories floating away into oblivion. Try to pull them back, only to find them burst in to nothingness like shiny soap bubbles of mirage

See the face almost every other day for years. Exchanged the hi’s, the views, the enthusiastic discussions, money, food and assignments. Never said a good-bye, but never talked again. See the name in the chat-list every day, but can’t be bothered to message wonder whether you really knew the face and the name.

Ought to message a regular, but the fluctuating list manipulates you into sending the message to someone you rarely conversed with over the past two years. And it’s awkward. After the standard hi’s and the protocol based “how are you? Am fine!” exchange, both fall silent. There is nothing to say to each other. The fact that these same lives were closely intertwined just a couple of years ago, hold no significance.

Then, there are those kind of person you meet daily, exchange jokes, talk the general topics and forget about as soon as you walk past them. And sometimes wonder how little you all know about each other. Thus making it certain that once you leave the place, none of them will ever feature in your memories and neither will you in theirs’. Yet another addition to the acquaintance links that will quickly wither away.

And finally, there are those that frequently appear in your mind. You recollect all the good times you had, perhaps the not the not so pleasant ones too. But you are amazed at how they don’t exactly seem to remember most of it, making all those memories little imaginary moments of your own mind. You might still meet them regularly, but how can that matter?
